Antonin Dvořák’s tone poems and the critics — 3 Comments

  1. These articles are a truly wonderful resource for amateur music students like myself. I love how Antonin Dvořák held fast to his artistic vision of furthering the cause of promoting a unique Czech nationalistic identity in his organically evolving orchestral endeavors; his ever more programmatic approach to composition, derived directly from Czech folk melodies, and his rhapsodic lyricism, which was ahead of it’s time, warrants a fresh revival — ESPECIALLY in his nearly forgotten operatic works, particularly in his greatest opera, the exquisite **RUSALKA**
